Charles “Charlie” Ray Phelps, 74, of New London and Wakeman, passed away Thursday evening, June 2, 2022, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
Charlie was born on October 25, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV to the late Dowden and Edna (Davis) Phelps.
Charlie graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1966. He proudly served his country in Germany as a member of the United States Army. Charlie was a dedicated employee for 30 years at General Motors before retiring in 1999. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors. Charlie’s love of hunting and fishing was passed down to his family.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Kendall) Phelps, who he married on July 6, 1968; 3 children, Jamie (Senta) Phelps of New London, Angie (Gary) Freeman of Wakeman, and Dowden (Andrea) Phelps of New London; 5 grandchildren, Zachery (Alyson) Phelps, Ashleigh Phelps, Troy (Kandice) Phelps, Guerin Charles Phelps, and Haley (Jake) Wooley; 8 great-grandchildren, Mikai Phelps, Ezra Phelps, NovaLee Phelps, Colton Wooley, Gunner Wooley, Bryson Phelps, and Addie Bartlett; brother, Roland “Russ” (Sue) Phelps of North Ridgeville; sister, Cindy Bonness of Oberlin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Estille and Robin Dillon of Warren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, OH 44851.
