Dale Grospitch, 79, of New London, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 3, 1935 in Berea, Ohio, to the late Ed and Eleanor (nee Thompson) Grospitch.
Dale served in the U.S. Air National Guard in the late 1950's and the U.S. Air Force in the early 1960's, serving in France in construction. He worked for General Motors for 19 ½ years. He drove truck for General Motors and worked on equipment in the Terex building, Cleveland. Dale also worked at Kent Sporting Goods and NAPA in New London from 1986-2002. He finished retirement in August 2014 as seasonal help for the Village of New London.
He was a big fan of NASCAR racing, tractor and truck pulls. Dale also enjoyed motorcycles. In his early days he rode Harley Davidson's and later Honda Gold Wings.
Dale is survived by his wife, Tootie; son, Dale (Laura) Grospitch of Olmsted Falls; son (stepson), Eric (Lisa) Coey of Greenwich; daughter (stepdaughter), Wendy (Brian) Batdorf of Wooster; grandchildren, Christopher Grospitch, Kelly Grospitch, Austin (Brooke) Coey, Hayden Coey, Carson Coey, Ashley Anderson and Megan Bellomy; siblings, Chuck Grospitch, Roy (Terrie) Grospitch and Patricia (Jerry) Theman, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This will be held at the New London Grange, 251 East Main Street, New London. Sloppy Joes, shredded chicken and drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share. If you have any pictures or memories to share, please bring those with you.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or the family to defray funeral expenses.
