Dorothy M. McGinty, 86, of Huntington Twp, died Thursday, January 6, 2022. Born on January 3, 1936 in Lorain, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (nee Ducar) Kraly. Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of Lorain High School. She moved to Huntington in 1958.
Dorothy worked for the Bendix Corporation, then as a bookkeeper for Presti’s Restaurant in Oberlin, and retired from the bookstore at the Adult Career Center (LCJVS). She also volunteered reading with the children at Westwood Elementary School in Wellington and volunteered at the gift shop at Oberlin Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Wellington. Dorothy cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Baba.
Survivors include her children Susan (Ron) Staveskie, of Vermilion, William (Barb) McGinty, of Wellington, Michael (Nancy) McGinty, of Oberlin, Melissa (John) Dietrich, of Amherst, and Melanie McGinty, of Wellington; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Karen) Kraly, of MD, and John (Sally) Kraly. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James McGinty; sons, Frank and James; and siblings Frank Kraly, Mary Ann Lemley, and Betty Turner.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Parish, 512 North Main St. Wellington, on Saturday, January 15, beginning at 12 p.m. A private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
