Douglas J. Resor Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2021. He was born on July 20, 1935 in Norwalk to the late Mildred (Braden) and Carl Resor and was raised by the Mildred and his stepfather, also now deceased, Florian Schaffer.
Doug had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He relished in any opportunity to play “hide and seek” or pretend he was a monster chasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to cut wood and had worked for Norwalk Concrete and Midway Tire Co. before retiring from Carter Lumber.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 63 years, Charlotte (Myers) Resor; children, Douglas (Pattie) Resor Jr., Florian Resor, Ricky (Katie) Resor, Sandy (Keith) King, Danny Resor and Jimmy (Becky) Resor; 21 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Martin, and Tom Resor; sisters, Martha Resor, Betty Penson, Carol Tempe, and Virginia Morris and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his birthparents and stepfather, Doug’s brother Roy Resor died less than a day following his passing, he was also preceded in death by his other brothers, Bob Schaffer, and Howard Resor; sister, Vera Slagle; brother in-law, Jack Penson; sisters in-law, Gussie Resor and Emily Resor.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 4 – 7 p.m. Guests to the funeral home are reminded to bring and wear a mask and be prepared for the possibility of having to wait outside if current reduced capacity limits are exceeded until room becomes available. Social distancing and mass gathering guidelines will be observed. A service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron, OH in the mausoleum.
