Edward Lee (Jr.) Swonger

Edward Lee Swonger Jr., 57, of Akron, died on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Medina General Hospital. Born on April 4, 1964 in Orville, he was the son of Beverly (nee Murry) and the late Edward Lee Swonger Sr. Edward was a 1982 South Amherst High School graduate.

After graduation, he went on to attend Malone College University where he received his Associates degree in sociology. Edward became a social worker before becoming a truck driver, driving for numerous companies all across the country. He faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Wellington. He enjoyed studying ancestry and genealogy and tracing his family history. Edward was an amateur radio operator and astronomer and liked to watch the night sky through his telescopes. He also enjoyed bird watching, was a talented chess player, and was a wiz on computers. Edward also had a talent at fixing just about anything and took beautiful pictures everywhere he went.

Left to treasure his memory is his mother, Beverly; siblings, Gary Swonger, Mardie Fritts (Wes), Leona Creger (Dan) and Victoria Heitger. Three nephews and three nieces, Alex, Hannah and Nick Fritts; Luke Heitger, Danielle and Lindsay Creger; aunts, Jane Brown, Florence Walsh and Leona Hudy. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Swonger Sr.; brother, Scott Swonger; aunts and uncles, Dorothy Singer, Willard Swonger, Mary Jones, Arlene Crow, Vearl Swonger, Lois McElhaney, Clara Jean Troyer and Shirley Lambert.

Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 10-11 am at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, 125 Grand Avenue, Wellington, OH 44090 where services will begin at 11. Pastor Tom Alexander will officiate and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
