Emily Anne Conklin (nee Hunt), 86, of Brighton Township died on
December 31, 2021. Born August 4, 1935, Emily lived most of her life on
the family farm where she enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking. She
was an avid reader and book lover all of her life. She had a beautiful
voice, and she created her own public speaking career that spanned
about two decades combining humorous anecdotes, stories, and song.
She was hired by many organizations for annual meeting
entertainments, mother-daughter banquets, etc. She made many lasting
friendships from this career. She was quick to make new friends and
was never at a loss for easy conversation.
Emily is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard Conklin, daughter
Paula Conklin, sons Steve (Terri) Conklin, Brad (Elle) Conklin, and David
Conklin; grandchildren Sarah Conklin, Melanie (Moe) Kramer, Abi
(Steven) Popovich, Rachel (Connor) Baker, Calvin Conklin, Alex Conklin.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Evelyn Hunt Roberts.
We would like to express our gratitude to the many kind and caring
professionals who helped us on Emily’s final journey: Dr Georgia
Newman’s office, the NOMS Care Team, Mercy Hospitals (both Oberlin
and Lorain), Welcome Nursing Home, Wesleyan Village, Crossroads
Hospice, and Norton-Eastman Funeral Home. Every person we came in
contact with went above and beyond to help us through the process.
Emily was a life-long dog owner and her last canine friend was Barney,
who she dearly loved. Barney came to Emily through Oasis Animal
Shelter, 44881 US 20, Oberlin OH 44074. If you are so inclined, please
consider a donation to Oasis in lieu of flowers.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
