Eugene A. Bilton, 94, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Portland Place in Sandusky. He was born on January 27, 1926 in Florence Township to the late Arthur and Pearl (Joyce) Bilton. He graduated from New London High School in 1944 and had been in the Collins area most of his life.
Gene proudly served his country as part of the United States Navy during WWII. He was a machinist for the former New Departure in Sandusky for nearly 20 years, but he also farmed for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, farming, playing cards, and traveling. He and his loving wife Norma had visited all but one of the 50 states (sorry Rhode Island).
Gene was a member of the New London United Methodist Church, Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711, and Norwalk American Legion Post 41 and past member of the Norwalk Elks Lodge #730.
Survivors include the love of his life, and bride of over 73 years, Norma (Bailey) Bilton; children, Vickie Maynard of Redlands, CA, Dennis (Debra) Bilton of Alta Loma, CA, Pam Boss of Norwalk, Rodney Bilton of Perrysburg and “special daughter”, Gunvor Larsson of Sweden; 10 grandchildren, 22 ¾ great grandchildren; sisters, DeLaurice Cooke of New London and Arlyse Bricker of Fort Wayne, IN; brother in-law, Dean Bailey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd, Harry and Darrell; sisters, Marion, Hazel and Gladys and son in-law, James Boss.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be no public visitation or services at this time, a celebration of life is planned for a later date and a private graveside service will be held at Hartland Ridge Cemetery.
