Florence E. Sams

Florence E. Sams, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in Twilight Gardens Home, Norwalk, Ohio.  She was born on September 22, 1942 to the late Otto and Eudora (Ranch) Hersha in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a lifelong area resident.  Florence graduated from Norwalk High School and was a member of the First Church of Christ in Norwalk.  She loved to play bingo and cards with her family and friends. She was very caring and loving and held a special place in her heart for all children, including those in the neighborhood, friends, and especially her own family. Her door was always open as she helped raise and take care of many little ones. 

Florence is survived by her daughter, Rita M. (Joseph) Hyre of Norwalk, Ohio, by her grandchildren, Robert Davis, Ryan Davis, Zachery Davis, and Katie Jo Hyre, by 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Earl E. Sams in 2016, by her daughter, Christine M. Sams in 2013 and by her siblings, Ruben Robert and Fred Hersha, Kathrine Ward, and Harold, Raymond, and Henry Hersha. 

Friends may call on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.  Rev. Roger George will officiate a brief service.  Visitors are encouraged to bring and wear a mask, and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines. A limited number of people will be permitted inside at a time to all for adequate distancing.  Visitors to the funeral home should be prepared for the possibility of waiting outside at times, in case of a crowd until social distancing becomes possible again.
