Gary L. Fagert

Gary L. Fagert, 85, from Nova, Ohio, peacefully entered through the gates of Heaven on April 21, 2023. He was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, to William and Edith Fagert.  Gary was married to the love of his life Dawn (Mamula) Fagert for 66 years.  They have five children: Bill (Vickie) Fagert, Lisa Strayer, Gretchen Patrizi, Bruce (Heather) Fagert and Dan Fagert.  Grandchildren Matt (Melissa) Fagert, Mike (Krystal) Fagert, Steve (Adrianne) Strayer, Ashley (Jeremy) Zudell, Alyssa Strayer, Hank Patrizi, Sam Patrizi, Lily Patrizi and Natalie Fagert.  Great Grandchildren Oliva and Max Fagert, Izzy Castioni, Reese Strayer, Liam Zudell, Cohen Strayer and Andre Kerlin.  Gary is also survived by sister Nancy Schneider,  sister-in-laws Dorothy Greiner and Karen Chapman and many nieces and nephews

Gary lived for family, loved family gatherings, and took pride in family participation in sporting activities and life events.  He was a man of faith and a member of Church of the Cross in Madisonburg.  Gary was a State Farm Insurance agent for 32 years developing life-long relationships with the many people he served.  He graduated from Ashland College where he held the long jump record for many years.  Gary was an avid reader and a life-long “learner” even earning a law degree in his retirement years.  He loved his country and served in the Air National Guard.  Gary enjoyed traveling with Dawn and always had her by his side.

There will be a private family service.  He will be laid to rest in Nova Cemetery with Reverend Beryl Baum officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School in North Dakota, 1301 N. Main Street, Chamberlain, SD, 57325 or the Wounded Warrior Project at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org or may be mailed to the funeral home. The staff of the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, Ohio 44851 assisted the family with arrangements. 

Gary would say, “Love is not something you say, it is something you do.”  He did it well and was well loved.
