Harriet Elizabeth Parcher

June 16, 1936 ~ March 23, 2020 (age 83)


Harriet Elizabeth (Schnee) Parcher, 83, of Norwalk, died Monday evening, March 23, 2020 at University Hospital in Cleveland.  She was born on June 16, 1936 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Harold and Netta (Ruggles) Schnee and was a lifelong resident.


Harriet was a 1954 graduate of Monroeville High School.  She received her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University.  Her career in education began as a teacher for Norwalk City Schools and Western Reserve Local School District.  She then became an administrator for Huron County Local Schools as an Elementary Supervisor and later the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.  The final years of her career were spent as an Assistant Superintendent and she was the last to hold the position of Superintendent of Huron County ESC. 


She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Firelands Historical Society, board member of Lyme Village, and the vice president and former president of Huron County Retired Teachers Association.  She was a long-time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk. 


Harriet was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1956, Raymond R. Parcher; sister, Rachel (Louis) Kovacs and son in-law William J. Winkler. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Parcher of Norwalk, Tim (Darla) Parcher of New London, Laura Winkler of Norwalk and Amy Parcher of Norwalk.  Her sister Minetta (late William) Erf of Bellevue and her brother Ned (Margie) Schnee of Fremont.  Grandchildren, Kyle (Nikki) Winkler, Michael Parcher, Thomas (Morgan) Parcher and Katelyn Winkler; step grandchildren, Danielle (Eric) Allen and David Risner; great grandchildren, Blair Parcher, Warren Parcher, Chase Winkler and Nolan Parcher and her nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be directed to the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church General Fund, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, OH 44857.  Services are being held privately with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
