Herbert H. Harsar Sr., 87, of Collins, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home. He was born on June 12, 1936, in Lorain, Ohio, to the late Stephen and Viola (Sponor) Harsar and was part of the first graduating class at Firelands High School in 1955.
He was born in Lorain, raised in Florence, and had lived in Clarksfield, Wakeman, and Collins, Ohio. Herbert proudly served his country as part of the United States Marine Corp. and was a member of the New London American Legion Broome-Wood Post 292 where he helped provide funeral military honors to many other area veterans. Herbert worked for 27 years at the former Tappan/American Standard plant and later drove truck for 19 years at Wakeman Oil.
He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara (Cammarn) Harsar; children, Herbert (Cara) Harsar Jr., Theresa Reed, and Jennifer Demyan; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Kathryn Gillespie, Ronald Harsar, Diane Love, and Arlene Myers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cherylann Burt; sister, Patricia Harding; and brother, Rudolph Harsar.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 16, 2023 at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m. with military honors.
