James Munson Douglass, 93, of New London, died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Fisher Titus in Norwalk. Born on June 13, 1928 in Westfield, Massachusetts, James was a son of the late Herbert Edgar and Mildred Jennie (nee Munson) Douglass. James grew up and attended school in Massachusetts before joining the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1945-1947 and was stationed in Okinawa, Guam and North China during his military service.
James worked as a tool and die maker at both Ford and General Motors in Sandusky. He also enjoyed farming and was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment in Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan (nee Pippin) Douglass; children, Karen Locke and Arlene Douglass, both of California, and Debbie Beams, of Nevada; several grandchildren and brothers, Melvyn Douglass, of Texas, and Richard Douglass, of California. James was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and Jerry Douglass.
