James C. Hammond, 84, of Norwalk, Ohio died on November 11, 2021, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born on April 5, 1937, in Norwalk and was raised by the late Clarence and Jeanette (Keating) Hammond. Jim graduated from Sandusky High School in 1955 and attended Kent State University. He served his country as part of the United States Army. Where he spent 16 months in Korea with the 342nd Engineer Company.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper, who took pride in his children and three grandsons. He worked for the former Ford plant in Lorain after his military service. Then for over 30 years at NASA Plum Brook, beginning as a security guard, before becoming a laboratory research mechanic for several service contractors, retiring in 2002.
Jim was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk where he was a part of the church council, building and chapel committees.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia L. (Suchan) Hammond; son, Jim (Krista) Hammond of Greenwich, Ohio; daughter, Lee Ann Hammond of Monroeville, Ohio; grandsons, Andrew Hammond of Greenwich, Ohio and Charles and James Hammond of Orlando, Florida; siblings, Donald (Carla) Hammond of Pickerington, Ohio, and Char Burlovich of Sandusky, Ohio. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
