Milan, Ohio - James A. Kinney, 76 passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 24, 1943 to the late John E. and Florence C. (Wechter) Kinney in Norwalk, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. Jim graduated from St. Paul High School in 1961 and shortly after, served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Ford Motor Company, for 5 years and was a truck driver for the remainder of his career, driving for Mesenburg Brothers, Jonick, PC Campana, GTI, South Shore Trucking, and Mark Haynes Construction.
After working more than 47 years in the transportation industry, he retired in 2018. Jim attended the Chapel, Sandusky Campus, and enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, woodworking, painting fishing lures, playing corn hole, and horseshoes, watching fishing shows and western movies; but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sharon M. Kinney of Milan, Ohio, by his children, Jeffrey S. (Sheri) Kinney of Norwalk, Ohio, Sara N. (Ryan) McDonnell of Norwalk, Ohio, and Joshua N. (Jennifer) Kinney of Milan, Ohio. Jim is also survived by his sisters Patricia Long of Norwalk, Ohio and Marjorie (Louie) Coup of Bellevue, Ohio and by several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, Steven M. Kinney in 1989 and by his brothers-in-law Chuck Williams, Ray Long, and Mark Hauler. There will be no visitation and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio 44857 is entrusted with arrangements.
