James Lorin McCormack, 78, of Greenwich, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, January 30, 2020. He was born on April 29, 1941, the son of the late Marcus and Lucille (Eldridge) McCormack. He was born and raised in Olivesburg, and has been a resident of Greenwich for 60 years. James was a 1959 graduate of Savannah High School. He worked as a machinist at the former Akron Standard Mold for 12 years, as well as other local factories. Later, he went into management at Plymouth Locomotive and White Westinghouse, where he retired.
James was a very active person. He enjoyed remodeling homes, farming, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. In his younger years, he played softball for the Greenwich Merchants. He created a golf course right beside his house, where he would spend many afternoons doing what he loved. After retiring, he and his wife, Beth, would snowbird to Florida.
James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beth (Risner) McCormack; children, Steven (Susan) McCormack, Teena (Chris) Reynolds, Tim (Leigha) McCormack, and Melanie Foster (Steve); 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille (Joe) Kirwin, Shirley (Alvin) Chacey, sister-in-law, Carol McCormack, and special friend and caregiver, Jackie Love.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by granddaughter, Samantha Foster, siblings, Marcus (Norma) McCormack, Gertrude (Nick) Dallasandro, John McCormack, and Charles (Darlene) McCormack.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2-4pm at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich, OH. The funeral service will begin at 4 pm with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. A private graveside service will be Monday, February 3, at 11 am at the Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
