James Lowell “Jay” Pierce Jr., 60, of Spencer, died Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Elms Retirement Center in Wellington. Born on August 20, 1961, in New London, he was the son of James L. Pierce Sr., and Sandra (nee Wray) Steffner. Jay was a 1979 graduate of Oberlin High School and has lived in Spencer for the past 30 years. 

 

Following high school, Jay served in the United States Navy. A general contractor, he worked for numerous construction companies throughout the area. Family was first and foremost in Jay’s life. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and coached their Hot Stove Baseball teams for several years. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Jay liked to go hunting, golfing, playing poker and tinker around his work shop. He was always ready to lend a hand and help others. 

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Nancy (nee Jackson); sons, Jason (Laura) Pierce, of Kissimmee, FL, Josh (Jessica) Pierce, of Medina, Jaycob Pierce, of Westlake, and Jarrod Pierce, of Spencer; grandchildren, Zack, Jackson, Jocelyn, Dakota, and Angela; Parents, Sandra (Jim) Steffner and James (Becky Milks) Pierce Sr.; and siblings, Tamala (Robert) Osborn, Christopher Pierce, and Cheryl Pierce. 

 

A celebration of life will be held at the Penfield Township Hall, 41012 State Route 18, Penfield, Ohio on June 10, 2022 at 5:00 pm. Eastman Funeral Home, New London, is assisting the family with arrangements and expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
