James E. Sword, 41, a lifelong resident of Rochester, lost his battle with drug addiction on Monday, June 3, 2019, just two years after his loving wife Ava, died from the same epidemic. His family hopes that through their deaths some good may shine through, and others might be spared from the loss that James' family is now enduring.
Survivors include his children Norbert and James Jr "JJ" Sword, both of Rochester, Krista Narveleit, of Wakeman, Brittney and Brandon Sword, of WV; parents Norbert and Ruth Sword, of Rochester; siblings Jason (Kim) Sword, of New London, Tina Sword, of Rochester; nieces and nephews Tiffany, Madisyn, Aryiana, Austin, Colten, Sierra, Stephen, Angie and Jonathan; grandchildren Scarlett and Lora; and his dog Frieda. James was preceded in death by his wife Ava in 2017.
James was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, camping and mowing the yard.
Friends and family will gather on Monday June 10, from 11 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 1 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
