James Weisenberger Obituary

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, James Robert Weisenberger “Jim” passed away at home with his loving family by his side at the age of 67. Jim was born on January 12, 1953 to A.J. “Joe” and Theresa (nee Potts) Weisenberger. Jim was raised in Hartland Twp, Norwalk, on his family farm along with 6 siblings.

Jim graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1971. In his glory days Jim played basketball and was the best defensive shooting guard in the conference. He continued playing in the men’s leagues on Hartland Speed Team and had many special memories playing ball with his own boys and grandsons.

At heart Jim was a farmer and loved the farm life. He loved the cows, especially dairy; it seemed he was born to be a farmer. Luckily for him he met a girl who loved nothing more than being on her grandparents farm in Ada, Ohio. Her dream was always to marry a farmer. Debbie (nee Klingler) and Jim eloped on April 25, 1972 when Jim said he didn’t want to wait. This year was their 48Th anniversary and they still loved to hold hands.

Jim and Deb were homebodies. They enjoyed their time together building their home, continued projects, the woods, camping with grandchildren, and following all their activities. Jim was a tinkerer, just like his dad, always working on his kids cars, trucks, and farm machinery. He could fix about anything. Besides farming, Jim was an avid hunter, enjoying making memories with his boys and grandson.

Jim retired from the Huron County Highway Dept, where he was an operator and truck driver. He liked his job, working along side his best friend Glenn Higgins, who we lost a couple years ago; who knows maybe they will continue on together when they meet again.

Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deb; sons, Mark (Erica) and Joe (Amy); daughter Alicia and her yorkie Daisy; grandchildren, Derek, Elizabeth, James, Bianca, Justin, Heaven, and Jazmyn; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his mother, Theresa (nee Potts) Weisenberger; sisters Linda Jo Wooster, Pat Back, Mary (Brian) Ames, and Annette (Dan) Scheid; and brothers, Mike (Sandy) and Tim (Peg). Jim was preceded in death by his dad, A.J. “Joe” Weisenberger, and his brother-in-law, Duncan Wooster.

There will be a drive thru visitation for Jim on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 1401 Zenobia Rd, the West Hartland Church on the corner of Zenobia and Greenwich Milan T.L. Rd. This was his wish to protect his friends and family during COVID. The church sits across the street from Jim’s home and in front of the farm he was raised on. Friends and family will be greeted on Tuesday from the safety of their cars from 3-5 p.m. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice of Fremont for their loving care.
