James "JD" Davidson Obituary

James A. “JD” Davidson, 72, of New London, passed peacefully May 29, 2022, surrounded by his family at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.  He was born August 4, 1949, in Oberlin to the late Mildred (Mikloda) and Robert Davidson, Jr.  JD was a graduate of Firelands High School Class of 1968 and served in the National Guard for 6 years out of Norwalk. 

He was a heavy equipment operator working through IUOE Local 18 and over the years worked at Studer-Obringer, Inc., C & F Construction, and retired from Cedar Point.  JD was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns; he enjoyed reading and golfing but spending time with his family he cherished most, especially his grandchildren.    

 JD is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura (Cooke) Davidson who he married May 20, 1972.  Three children, Matt (Beckie) Davidson, of Lowell, MI, Luke (Karen) Davidson of, Blacklick, OH and Halle (Ted) Evans, of New London; 8 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Morgan, Brooks and Maddox Davidson, Madeline and Vivienne Davidson, and Kylie and Mia Evans; brothers, Robert (Linda) Davidson and Dennis (Christina) Davidson, both of Oberlin, and sister-in-law, Susan Davidson, of Ashland. In addition to his parents, JD was preceded in death by his brother Charles.      

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 10, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Hileman Building, 2 Blake Street, New London.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. www.michaeljfox.org. The staff of Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W.
