Jean Ann Copley of Wellington, Ohio, passed away on October 9, 2021 after a three year battle with dementia. Jean was born March 26, 1948 and raised in Rochester, Ohio. She moved to New London upon marriage and retired to Wellington 5 years ago.
Jean was united in marriage to John Copley on November 25, 1967. She attended LCCC and later graduated from The Ohio State University in elementary education. Jean helped start the Huron County pre-school program, impacting many young and inquisitive minds. Later she taught in most elementary grades, retiring from the New London local school system.
Jean will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years, John and 3 children; son, Joel (Kay) Copley of New London, Brad (Shay) Copley of LaGrange and daughter, Julia Copley of Medina. Jean and John are blessed with 7 grandchildren, creating so many dreams come true. Jean also has a younger brother, Steve (Andi) Boss of New London and sister in law, Pam Boss of Norwalk. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Boss and parents, Paul and Mary Boss.
Jean cherished having family together and reveled in watching them excel and enjoy all their life achievements. Time was afforded for travel, near and far as John was always her constant companion in so many adventures.
A celebration of life will be conducted at the Rochester United Methodist Church, 201 South State Street, Rochester, 44090 for family and friends on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 5:30 pm. A meet and greet will occur for friends 3-5 pm for those who cannot stay. We ask that all who are attending to please wear a mask.
Norton-Eastman Funeral Home of Wellington, Ohio will be entrusted with the arrangements. The family requests that any memorial contributions on Jean’s behalf be given to the Rochester Methodist Church or the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
