John R. Vogt Jr., 82, of Norwalk, died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Born on July 24, 1939, in New London, he was the son of the late John Russell and Kathryn (nee Jump) Vogt Sr. John attended school in Collins and graduated from Western Reserve in 1957. He served in the National Guard for 8 years.
John was a plumber by trade and worked for Ferrell Gas for 25 years. He was a member of the Norwalk Eagles, the Bronson Conservation Club, and the Wakeman Snowballers. In his life there was not much that John did not do, he was a jack of all trades and very handy. He loved to fish, hunt, ride snowmobiles, and was a racehorse jockey. John will be remembered for his stories and his joking sense of humor.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Cleo (nee Bartow); children, Traci (Robert) Caldwell, of Trinity FL, Kelli (Nikhil) Mishra, of Grafton MA, Hal (Sue) Runals, of Sullivan, Mark Runals, of Rochester, Jody Krupp, of Wisconsin, Julie (Christopher) Lehman, of Medina, and Roger (Sheri) Runals, of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary (Barry) Burns, and Nancy Phenicie, both of Norwalk, and Ed (Pat) Vogt, of Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, April 21, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk and again on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Hartland Ridge Cemetery.
