Joseph R. “Joe” Skiver, 71, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away from Alzheimer’s on September 6, 2023, at Admiral’s Pointe Nursing Home in Huron. He was born on December 25, 1951, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Samuel and Naama “Amy” (Starcher) Skiver. He attended Sandusky High School.
Joe served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. He was a talented welder and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, searching for mushrooms, dancing, music, and M & M’s. He cherished his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Diane (Spurling) Skiver, of Norwalk, OH; son, Chad J. Skiver of Seattle, WA; daughter, Joellie A. Skiver of Seattle, WA; beloved grandchildren, Josilyn Tock and Jordan (Hailey) Skiver, whom he loved like a son; great grandchildren, Julianna and Atlas Skiver, and Jemma Tock; siblings, David Starcher of Ashland, OH, Charlotte Buffington, of Norwalk, OH, and Roberta Tewell, of Sandusky, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Woodrow and Terry Skiver.
Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, Norwalk, is honored to assist the Skiver family with Joe’s arrangements and care. In keeping with his wishes, Joe will be cremated and laid to rest in Sand Hill Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.
