Kenneth George Oblender, 54, of Milan, died on January 18, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic after many health struggles, and ultimately a battle with COVID-19. He was born on September 26, 1966 in Sandusky, Ohio to Steve and Betty H. (Sanchez) Oblender.
Ken was an incredibly loving husband and son who despite his failing health, remained unshakably determined. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, motorcycle rides and going on trips to Canada and other places. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Social Member of the VFW, and Norwalk Eagles. He had worked in retail and men’s clothing for many years, including JC Penney’s, Kaufmann’s and most recently Macy’s.
Survivors include his wife, Shanan (Cox) Oblender; parents, Steve (Betty) Oblender; brothers, Charles and John Oblender and best friend, Don Leonard.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George, and Ruth Oblender.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk from 1 P.M until the time of the 3 P.M. service. Visitors to the funeral home are reminded to bring and wear a mask and be prepared for the possibility of waiting outside once current reduced capacity limits are reached until other visitors exit allowing for more room for social distancing. An inurnment is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
