LaRue Bursley (91) of New London, went home to be with Jesus Friday, November 12, 2021. She was born February 20, 1930 in Wellington to the late Andrew and Agnes (nee Leininger) Radcliffe. She was a graduate of Wakeman High School, Class of 1948.
She met the love of her life, Philip M. Bursley, at a dance when she was just 14 years old. They were married June 6, 1948 and lived a wonderful life together for 72 1/2 years.
LaRue was a homemaker and helped take care of their family's dairy farm for many years. She was an excellent baker and cook which she loved to share. LaRue also enjoyed working in the garden, canning, and playing the piano. She was an incredible Christian witness to many people around her. She was a member of the New London First Baptist Church where she was very active including singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. In the past she also worked on the board of elections volunteering her time at the polling booths. Above all, LaRue truly loved her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were the apple of her eye.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family. Survivors include children Paul (Sheila) Bursley, of Clarksfield, and Patti (Mike) Fenwick, of Ashland; granddaughters Melissa Brown, Andrea (Dan) Lukas, Amelia Fenwick, and Bailey Bursley; great grandchildren, Zeff, Tori, Gavin, Addi, Kaleb, Elli, and Mackenna; brother Allen Radcliffe, of Clarksfield.
She was also preceded by her loving husband in December 2020 as well as her siblings Elbridge Radcliffe, Beulah Reese, Helen Parmer Nightengale, Iva Radcliffe and Eileen Horning.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service beginning at 3 p.m. at New London First Baptist Church, 432 Park Ave, New London, 44851. The family is encouraging everyone to wear LaRue’s favorite color blue. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
