Leslie Robert Handley, 73, a lifelong resident of Sullivan, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. Born on June 13, 1947, in Oberlin, he was the son of the late Robert and Pauline (nee Richards) Handley. Les was a 1965 graduate of Black River High School. Following graduation, he served in the Ohio National Guard.
Les Retired from Premium Building Products in 2017. He had also farmed his family’s land for many years. Les was dedicated to his community, serving as a volunteer fireman in Sullivan for 50 years, and holding the position of Assistant Chief for much of that time. Most of all, Les cherished his family and time spent with this children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Michal “Mick” (nee Baker) Handley; daughters Leslie (Daniel) Sexton, of West Salem, and Angie (Dan) Haswell, of Wellington; grandchildren, Danielle, Joshua, Nick, and Cole; siblings, Arlen Handley, Ardith McFadden, and Larry (Wynna) Handley.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, May 6, from 3-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington, where services will be held on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.
