Luigina “Jean” Tomei, 96, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2020 at home. She was born on November 11, 1924 in Supino, Italy to the now deceased, Lavinia (Bernola) and August Tomei.
Jean enjoyed reading the newspaper, looking at magazines, and watching the Hallmark Channel.
Survivors include her sisters, Nancy (Carl) Laface, Joanne (Angelo) Cerilli, both of Norwalk and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her very loyal cat and companion of 15 years, “Tommy”.
The family would like to thank Jean’s loving caregivers, Diane Dirks, Tina Richardson, and Molly Gatton. Their years of care and dedication allowed Jean to remain in the comfort of her own home. The family also extends a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Jean, especially nurses, Lori, Millie, and Ann.
A private viewing for the family and for those who provided care for Jean will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 from 10 a.m. until the time of the also private 11 a.m. Catholic service, with Fr. Francis Mariadas officiating, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Invited guests, family, and caregivers are reminded to bring and wear a mask, and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norwalk. The service will be recorded and posted to the funeral home’s website (www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com) for the public and anyone unable to attend to view at their convenience in the afternoon.
