Mark Leroy Oney, 61, of Wakeman, died Monday, April 5, 2021in Toledo after a brief illness. Born on April 24, 1959 in Marion, he was the son of the late Leroy and Vadis (nee Heath) Oney. Mark was a life long resident of the Wakeman and Collins area and a 1978 graduate of Western Reserve High School.
Mark was a union crane operator but to friends and family he was known as the go-to guy. A true jack of all trades, everyone knew if it needed fixed he could fix it and if it needed built he could build it. Mark was also a member of the Norwalk Eagles.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years and girlfriend of 40, Laurie (nee Bickley); children Mark Leroy (Tracy) Resor, of New London, Erin R. Sanders, of Milan, Adam L. (Ashlie) Oney, of Norwalk, and Sarah L. (Tony Hoff II) Oney, of Wakeman; 17 grandchildren; and 1 greatgrandchild; sisters Cathy Croskey, of Collins, Melanie Oney, of Norwalk, and Diana Rumsey, of New London. Mark was preceded in death by his twin sister Deana Wetzel and sister Sherida (Robert) Braden
A Celebration of Life for Mark and his sister Sherida will be held on April 24, beginning at 1 p.m. at 3167 Crandall Rd, Collins, OH 44826. Eastman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
