Mary K. Ott Barman, 83, of Norwalk, Ohio, died on April 2, 2024, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Edward and Kathryn (Lamb) Shutts. She was a Norwalk High School graduate. Mary never lost her sense of humor or wit even hours before her passing.
An avid sports fan, especially when it came to the University of Michigan, Mary loved following her grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. She was also a phenomenal cook who enjoyed word puzzles, crosswords, and playing Euchre. Mary also loved to travel with family and friends. Mary was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church a volunteer at the Norwalk Area Food Bank and Al-Anon and Alateen Sponsor.
She is survived by her husband, Norbert Barman; sons, Chris (Michelle) Ott, Kevin (Beth) Ott, and David Ott; grandchildren, Morgan (Tim) Strausbaugh, Shannon Michelle Ott, Grant Ott, Nicki (Jake) Rospert, Nathan Ott, Samantha Ott, Joshua (Shannon) Ott, and Jason (Nancy) Ott; great grandchildren, Henry Strausbaugh, and Pennigan and Harper Ott. Adopted daughter Lisa Hull. Sister-in-law Florence Schaffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ott in 2006, daughter Mary Kathryn Ott in 1961 and siblings, Carolyn Zureich and Patricia Shutts Najsztup.
Mary’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Rd., Norwalk, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
