Mary Jean E. Belza, 91, of Wellington, Ohio, passed away on January 22, 2024, at Mercy Health in Lorain. Born in Erie, PA on May 24, 1932, to the late Howard and Edna Jean (Williams) Stonerook, Mary Jean lived in Youngstown for many years before moving to Wellington in the early 1960s.  Mary Jean attended Boardman High School in Youngstown and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron.

A nurse by trade, Mary Jean worked at Akron General Hospital and South West Hospital before starting her family. Following the birth of her children, Mary Jean cared for patients beside her husband, Dr. Jess S. Belza, in his Wellington practice. After retirement, she worked at Medina Gem jewelry store for several years.

Mary Jean loved to read and enjoyed knitting. She had a compassionate heart for animals and enjoyed tending to her garden and many plants. Mary Jean will be remembered for her skill in the kitchen, baking and cooking delicious meals. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she truly cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Edwen (Lori) Belza, of Manakin Sabot, VA, Jacquelene Belza, of Wellington, and Diehl (Lisa) Belza, of Grafton; grandchildren, Kate (Clark) O’Bannon, Sara, Chase (Karra), Justin (Danielle), Derek (Caralynn), Faith, Grace, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Jackson, Lucas, Kinsley, Weston, Jaden and one more on the way; and a sister-in-law, LaDonna Stonerook.
