Matthew Perry Stewart, 33, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly at Fisher Titus Medical Center on June 1, 2020. Matthew courageously fought addiction for many years and would have wanted to help anyone fighting the same battle. Matthew was born on April 23, 1987 in Norwalk to Perry and Lista (Bennett) Stewart. He attended Norwalk High School.
Matt loved the outdoors, yard work and animals. He cherished time with his family, especially his younger relatives.
Survivors include his mother, Lista Stewart; brother, Joshua (Becky) Stewart; grandparents, Ken and Peggy Risner and Cindy McGinnis; nephews, Robert and Cory Stewart and James Hart; niece, Emma Stewart; many aunts and uncles and several cousins and “fur babies”.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Perry Stewart; grandfather, Fred McGinnis and grandparents, Bud and Helen Stewart.
A private family service will be held at Mt. Harvest Church of God, 115 State Route 113, Milan. The family will greet friends on Friday, June 5, 2020 beginning at 1 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk. A graveside service is planned the same day, also at Woodlawn, beginning at 2 pm. Matthew’s uncle, Pastor Joe Woodyard will be officiating both the private church, and public graveside services. Visitors are reminded to adhere to all COVID-19 mass gathering restrictions, practice social distancing, and wear a mask when such distancing seems unlikely.
