Merrill "Mike" Edward Lawrence

Merrill “Mike” E. Lawrence, 96, of Fostoria and formerly of New London, OH, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 12, 2023.  He was born in Amherst, Ohio on December 22, 1926, the son of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Porter) Lawrence. 

Mike grew up in New London and joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and proudly served his country through Vietnam.  He relocated to New Cumberland, PA until retiring and returning to New London.  Later in life, he found himself in Fostoria to be closer to his daughter.  Mike worked for Shelby Air Depot and the Army Depot in New Cumberland, PA.  He was a member of the Broome Wood Post 292 in New London, OH. 

Mike is survived by his daughter, Shelia Mullins of Fostoria; step son in law, Clair McCreary of New Cumberland, PA; grandchildren, Kurt (Carla) Mullins and Kevin (Katheryn) Mullins;  great-grandchildren, Cassie (Danny) Greenberg, Courtney (Jason) Ilgenfritz, Taylor Semic, Kurt (Katie) Mullins, Kristin Mullins, Marcus Mullins, Jennifer Mullins, Sarah Mullins and Kaden Mullins and 5 great-great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia (Eberly) Lawrence; his step daughter, Nancy McCreary; granddaughter, Teri McCreary Semic; and siblings, Wesley Lawrence and Evelyn Kennedy. 

At Mike’s request, there will be no services.  He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Cecilia, at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA with Military Honors.   Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
