Milton Harris, 67, of Ashland, OH died on February 28, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a short illness. He was born on February 18, 1954 in Mansfield, OH the son of Alice Viola (nee Evans) and Virgil Harris Sr.
Milton was a resident of New London and a 1972 graduate of New London High School where he excelled in both academics and athletics - football, basketball and track. He obtained his associates degree in Computer Science from Los Angeles City College after serving in the United State Air Force. Milton worked for Grant Thornton LLP in the accounting and tax department as Paraprofessional.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed all things involving college and professional sports, especially Ohio teams -Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians. He reveled in the National Championships won by OSU in 2002 and 2014 as well as the Cavs’ NBA Championship in 2016. Milton enjoyed listening to music and yearly attended the New Orleans Jazz Fest. He decorated his home with the framed posters and pictures of the annual event. He cherished time spent with family, especially his Mother and brother Vernon as well as lifelong friend John McClaflin and wife Sue.
Milton is survived by his step sons, Derek Hudson of Rochester, NY and Dexter Hudson of Phoenix, AZ; his mother, Alice Viola Harris of Ashland, OH and siblings: Virgil Harris Jr. of Westerville, OH, Vernon Harris of New London, OH, Dean Harris of Ashland, OH, Dale Harris of Sandusky, OH, Eddie Harris of Mansfield, Betty Harris Brown of Oceanside, CA and George Harris and his wife Earlene of Ashland, OH, cousin Mamie Singleton of Ashland, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milton was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Harris Sr., and brothers, Dwight and Timothy Harris.
Private family services were held at the Eastman Funeral Home, New London, OH. Burial will take place at the Grove Street Cemetery in New London. Memorial contributions may be directed to, New London High School Athletics, Ashland County Cancer Association, and Ashland County Dog Shelter in Milton’s name.
