Owen Tussing

Owen Tussing of Willard, Ohio passed peacefully with family at his side at Ohio Health Mansfield on Saturday, June 25th at the age of 84. He was born in the Marysville area on January 2, 1938 to Harley Ralph Tussing and Mary Pearl (Grubb) Tussing. On January 2, 1960 he married Karol (Miller) Tussing. They celebrated 62 years together.

He served five years in the U.S. Army and worked various jobs during his lifetime. Several of those as a machinist. At the age of 57 he trained as a barber at adult classes of Pioneer Career and Technology Center. Owen then owned and operated, “Hairworks Barber & Styling Shop”, in Willard, Ohio. He thoroughly enjoyed barbering and was hard working and well liked. Traveling was also a big thing in his life. With his wife he enjoyed several cruises and toured many states in the US. He enjoyed TV, especially cowboy shows and detective shows (i.e. Columbo). Owen was a member of the Willard Church of the Nazarene. When he was in better health he served in various capacities.

In addition to being preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in- law, Russell and Florine Miller, also was his twin brother, Olan, brother Harley Jr., and brother-in-law Thomas.

We can’t forget his dog, Madison.

He is survived by his wife, Karol, daughters, Jodi (Steve) Ames, April (Darrell plus 7 bonus grandchildren) Durham, sister, Florence Meade, brother, James Tussing, grandchildren, Beth O’ Cain, Ryan Steinmetz, great grandchildren, Ally, Lila, Eli, Paisley and Palmer, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Gale Featheringill, step grandchildren, Sam Ames, Steve Ames, and their children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was extremely proud of his family and loved them with all his heart!

We wish to thank all family for any and all help caring for Owen. The nursing care at Ohio Health was above and beyond. They were very caring and compassionate. Our Owen had the best! A special thank you to Meredith in the nephrology unit.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the Willard Church of the Nazarene, 4414 Townline Road 12, Willard, OH 44890, where a Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 p.m.  The staff of the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main Street, Greenwich, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be sent to The Willard Church of the Nazarene.
