Phyllis A Barnes

Norwalk, Ohio - Phyllis A. Barnes, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in Norwalk Memorial Home, Norwalk, Ohio. She was born on October 16, 1932 to the late Sylvia E. (Grismer) and Charles A. O'Donnell in Norwalk, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident.

Phyllis was married for 67 years to the love of her life, Robert E. Barnes and they raised their family in Norwalk, Ohio. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and was employed as a GTE telephone operator for over 28 years, retiring in 1986. Phyllis enjoyed volunteering her time teaching children and adults to read, and she was a true Cleveland Indians fan, often keeping score of the games. She also loved to play pinochle, traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, vacationing in Florida with her family, camping and attending her grandchildren's sporting events and music concerts.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Steven R. (Katie) Barnes of Norwalk, Ohio, Nancy J. (Michael) Lindenberger, of Norwalk, Ohio, Linda K. (Kyle) Jameson of Bonita Springs, Florida, Robert E. Barnes, and Julie A. (David) Lindenberger, both of Norwalk, Ohio. She is also survived by a brother, Lawrence O'Donnell of Westlake, Ohio, by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Barnes in 2017, and by her siblings, Rita Rice, Richard "Lewie" O'Donnell, and Carol Fulton.

Friends may call on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 12:00 p.m until time of service at 2:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Margaret D'Anieri will officiate. Interment will be in Collins Cemetery, Collins, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
