Rilla Mobberly (84) lifelong resident of New London, died Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 12, 1936 in New London to the late Frank and Winiferd( (Farmsworth) Myers. Rilla was a cook for the New London Hospital and New London Schools and finished her working career at Kent's Sporting Goods. She met Emmett E. Mobberly shortly after he was out of the Air Force. He rode his bike from Ashland to see her in New London and it was love at first sight. They were married in the Salvation Army Church and spent many wonderful years together until he passed in 1993. Rilla was baptized in the Baptist church and enjoyed fishing, walking, camping, going to garage sales and sewing making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rilla is survived by her 5 children: Melvina (Donald) Harsharberger, Waneta (Tommy Plat) Jones, Winnie (Kyle) Perkins, Frank (Sue) Mobberly and Howard (Pam) Mobberly, 21 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded by her parents, husband, and 3 siblings: Barbara Johnson, Dale and Nate Myers.
A gathering will be held for family and friends from 3 PM until the time of the celebration of life service at 4 PM Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London.
