Rita J. Welfle, 91, of Norwalk, died Friday, March 6, 2020 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Born on March 14, 1928 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Mabel E. (nee Kramer) Stoll. Rita was a lifelong resident of Norwalk.
Rita worked as a cook for Milan Elementary school. She also worked for the Norwalk Truck Line. Rita enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and working in her garden. Friends and family will remember her delicious orange cookies and cinnamon rolls. Rita especially cherished time spent with, and caring for, her family, grandchildren, and other neighborhood children. Every child who came to visit Rita would get a sucker.
Survivors include sons David A. (Brenda) Welfle, Patrick A. (Debra) Welfle, and Christopher O. (Kathy) Welfle, all of Norwalk; daughter Jayne A. (Pete) Brunow, of Dunkirk; Grandchildren Adam, Abby Matthew, Jaime, Josh, Andrew, Alex, Amber, Katelyn, Clay, Cory, and Clint; 16 great grandchildren; siblings Edward M. (Mary Francis) Stoll, Theodore “Ted” Stoll, Larry (Mary Ann) Stoll, and Michael J. (Becky) Stoll; and brothers-in-law Charles “Red” Moore, and Richard Maloney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband Andrew F. Welfle, in 2003, and siblings Arthur J. “Jim” Stoll, Donna J. Moore, and Daniel D. Stoll, Elizabeth “Betty” O. Maloney.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, March 13, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church, 145 S. Center St, Milan, 44846, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Milan. Donations in Rita's memory may be given to St. Anthony's Cemetery Fund, or to the Church. Rita requested that those who attend should wear red.
