Robert William Gault II, 78, of Polk, died at his residence on Monday, November 29, 2021. Born in Jeannette, PA, on June 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Doris (nee Sager) and Robert Gault Sr. He was a 1961 Jeannette High School graduate and went on to attend college earning a degree in religion. As a youth Robert attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and continued to support scouting as a scoutmaster later in life.
For 21 years Robert proudly served in the US Marines, serving during Vietnam and Desert Storm, and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. While in the Marine Corps, Robert worked first as a helicopter gunner, a recruiter, and then in computer data, eventually becoming the head of the computer sciences school at Quantico. Apart from his military service, Robert served as a minister for 47 years, working in churches in Georgia, Connecticut, Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan. Most recently he was the pastor of the Sullivan First Congregational Church, a charge he has held the past 12 years. Robert enjoyed riding his motorcycles and was an active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, chapter 693. He was also active with the Ohio Association of Congregational Christian Churches, the Kairos Prison Ministry, and Ewing Woods church camp.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Lois (nee McElwain); children, Lori Gordon, of Polk, and Robert (Vicki) Gault III, of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren Roger (Sarah), Corey (Merrilyn), Wyatt, and Robbie; 5 great grandchildren; and siblings, Gwen Mains, Kenneth (Ruth) Gault, Ammie Kubas, Beverly (Paul) Hubbard, and Renee (Harry) Jones.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the Sullivan First Congregational Church, 503 St. Rt 224, Sullivan, 44880 and again on Saturday, from 10 am until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.
