Roger Hans Dixon, born August 11, 1935, to the late Hans and Irene Dixon, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024. Roger shared a long and loving marriage with Peggy (Griffin) Dixon, whom he wed on November 22, 1956.
Roger dedicated 31 years of his career to the Huron County Health Department. His commitment to serving others extended to his 23 years with the Norwalk Ambulance Service and North Central Ambulance Service.
A proud Army veteran, Roger served in the Special Forces from 1954-1956. His military service was a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country.
Roger had a passion for watching his grandchildren's events, cheering for St. Paul football (30+ years on the sidelines working the chains), golfing, gardening, woodworking, and spending winters at Pointsettia Park in Fort Myers, Florida.
A devout Catholic, Roger was a member of the Norwalk Council of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his community. He attended Holy Name in Cleveland until the 10th grade, graduating from Lincoln Park High School in Michigan.
Roger is survived by his 5 devoted daughters, and 13 grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Surviving Roger is his wife, Peggy, daughters and sons in-law, Mary Beth Dunham, Ellen (Tom) Johnson, Lisa (Tim) Wendt, Julie (Ken) Cowin, and Susan (TJ) Riley. His grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua (Becky), Jay, Kelly (Bill), Kristi (Ray), Michael (Allie), Erin (Kyle), Danny (Laura), Chip (Brooke), Kenny (Meghan), Katie, Maggie (Brad), Kyle (Jessica), and Megan. Roger is also survived by 5 loving nieces, 2 nephews, and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Dixon, a grandson, Kevin Dixon Schmul, and his in-laws, Roscoe and Catherine Griffin.
Calling hours will be held at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norwalk, on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, beginning @10:30 a.m.
Interment at St. Mary cemetery and luncheon at Reynold's Hall, 77 State St. will follow the Mass.
