Rose Mary “Rosie” Schaffer, 93, a lifelong Norwalk, Ohio area resident, died on April 5, 2021 at the Norwalk Memorial Home. She was born on July 30, 1927 in Norwalk to the late Otto and Mabel (Shibley) Schaffer and graduated from Norwalk St. Paul High School in 1946.
Rosie cherished time with her family and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, eating perch, a cold beer, going out for a warm bowl of soup from Bob Evans, puzzles, embroidery, coin collecting, and camping trips to Michigan. She worked as a bookkeeper for her father’s Oldsmobile Shop, the Norwalk Service Garage and was a talented typist both at work and at home where she often retyped things for herself and others. Rosie was a lifelong member of St Paul Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert J. Schaffer and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by many cousins.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk from 6 until 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held the following day, Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Michael Bialorucki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk. Those who will be visiting at the funeral home and the church are reminded to bring and wear a mask and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
