Sherry L. (Oney) Hicks

Sherry L. Hicks, age 69, of Greenwich, died on Thursday, October 5,2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.  Sherry was born on October 2, 1954 in Norwalk, OH, one of eight children to the late Stonewall and Bertha (Blair) Oney.  She grew up in the Greenwich area and attended South Central High School.

Sherry was the beloved wife of Larry Hicks, whom she married on November 3, 1973.  Together they filled their home with many memories centered around love.  Sherry enjoyed fishing, bird watching, puzzles, visiting Amish country and camping.  She was a collector of many things, beanie babies, shoes, clothing and purses.  She loved caring for her family and cooking for them. Sherry could often be found tending to her flower beds and gardening.  

Sherry is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Crystal (Robert) French, Jason (Dana) Hicks; grandchildren, Madison French, Kyser French, Tayson French, Nathan Meyers, Isaiah Hicks, Paige Singer, Jennifer Singer and Olivia Hicks; great-grandchildren, Emorie Carpenter and Jackson Singer; her sister Roberta Whitaker.  Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Stonewall and Bertha Oney; son, Joshual Hicks; and siblings, Marcella King, Mary Ellen Oney, Charles Oney, David Oney, Deborah Tuttle and Earnest “Rudy” Oney.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 9, from 4-7 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W Main Street, Greenwich, 44837, and again on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of services beginning at 2 p.m.  Burial will follow at the Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Cleveland Office, 10501 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106 or Cleveland Clinic, North Coast Cancer Center 417 Quarry Lakes Drive, Sandusky, OH 44870. Online condolences may be shared at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
