Sonja Janice Mashburn
October 29, 1934 ~ February 9, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Sonja Janice Mashburn, age 89, of New London, Ohio, died in her sleep on Friday, February 9, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugine Mix Mashburn; daughters, Deborah Lynn Holsinger and Sonja Lea Miller; grandson, Dennis Delglish Rosecrans.
Sonja is survived by her grandchildren, Brandon Dean Rosecrans, Sunny Jean Hughes both of Red Bay, AL, Richard Allen Cole of Maine. As well as her great-grandchildren, Brandon Dean Rosecrans Jr., Christian Quinn Fanjoy Jr., and Kevin Zackeriah Fanjoy; along with her great-great grandchildren, Harmony and Melody Fanjoy.
Sonja was a devout Christian and family-oriented woman. She bore hard times with grace and good times with poise. No matter the situation she was the example of a proper lady who always exhibited class. When her grandchildren Brandon and Sunny were abandoned to foster care as infants, she stepped in and fought for immediate custody. She raised them as if they were her own. Sonja went to her death rejoicing in going home to heaven to be with God, and looked forward to being reunited with her husband and children that preceded her.
She was loved by generations and will be missed by all who knew her. In accordance with Sonja’s wishes, a private family graveside service was held. She will be laid to rest, beside her husband, Eugine, at the Huntington Cemetery. She disliked making a fuss.
