Thomas "Tom" Sisson Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Christopher Sisson

March 2, 1967 – November 27, 2021

Tom was a loving husband, brother, father and pah pah to his family. It is with deepest regret to say that Tom lost his battle with COVID-19. He passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

Tom was born in Norwalk, OH on March 2, 1967 to the late George and Mary Ann (Bane) Sisson.

Tom supported his family with a 23 year career in plumbing, 13 of which he owned his own company. Tom would go out in the middle of the night to help anyone who had an issue. At times, he would accept a homemade pie as payment if someone couldn’t afford to pay him monetarily. After leaving the plumbing industry, he was a longtime employee of Norwalk Concrete, Inc.

When he wasn’t working to provide for his family, Tom loved fishing at the Norwalk Reservoir, with his youngest daughter, Brandi. He shared a love of animals with his middle daughter, Arielle. Each of them would care for any stray animal that came to their house. His oldest daughter, Nicole will always cherish the memories of riding along during his races at the Norwalk racetrack.

Tom always had a passion for cooking and Thanksgiving was his Super Bowl. He would feed a group of 5 as if they were 20 people. His garage, also known as his man cave, was open to anyone and his grill was always on. Tom would never let anyone go hungry. Many who came to Tom’s garage ended up becoming family. On Sundays, there was always a NASCAR race on and plenty of people to watch it with. Tom particularly loved the Daytona 500.

Tom wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need. He often donated to St. Jude’s, Shriner's Children, the Humane Society and the Nature Conservancy. Tom belonged to Norwalk Eagles Club and the NRA. Tom was a big teddy bear with an even bigger heart.

Tom leaves behind his loving spouse of 36 years, Julie Shorette; daughters, Nicole (Josh) Kublis, Arielle (Chris) Stahl and Brandi (Alex Keller) Sisson; 2 grandchildren, Zaidyn and Teagan Kublis, known to pah pah as little man and lady bug; sister, Leslie (Andy) Miller; brothers, Scott (Nancy) Sisson and Mike Sisson; mother-in-law, Ann Snow; father-in-law, John Shorette; step-father, Lou Schield; step-siblings, Sandy Alan and Steven (Janelle) Schield and many nieces, nephews and friends he considered family.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Those wishing to contribute to Tom’s memory can do so at Croghan Bank in Norwalk to the Thomas C Sisson Memorial Fund.
