Tom A. Lane, 85, of Norwalk, died Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Gaymont. Born in Norwalk, Tom was a son of the late Gordon and Gertrude (nee Brown) Lane. Tom graduated with the Norwalk High School Class of 1955. He was with the Co. G Ohio National Guard in Norwalk. Tom later proudly joined the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the 526th Tactical Fighter Squadron. Following his military service, Tom used the G.I. Bill to earn his private pilot’s license.
Tom retired from Norwalk Furniture as a truck driver. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk. Tom also held membership with the American Legion Post 135 in Savannah, GA, the Masonic Lodge 64 in Norwalk, Norwalk Eagles 711 and the Norwalk Am Vets. He also belonged to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) in Huron. Flying was his true passion, and he enjoyed many trips in his younger years.
He is survived by his son, Mark (Teresa) Lane; grandchildren, Sarah (Jon) Roan, Derik Lane and Dustin (Ally Lippert) Lane; and 2 great grandchildren, Carter and Anderson Lane. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula, in 2015; son, Erik E. Lane and brother, Larry.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at Norwalk First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, with Pastor Hodsden officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Tom can be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
