Virginia L. Wargo

Virginia L. Wargo, after a lifetime packed with love, teaching us always to make the most of every day, has left us to treasure her memory. She was born to Ross and MaryHelen Caroniti on January 22, 1922 and died on March 14, 2019 at the age of 97. She graduated from Penfield High School in 1940. Virginia married Julius Wargo on November 18, 1950, and together raised 5 daughters.

Virginia proudly began working at a factory after WWII began and continued that work most of her life. She retired from General Elastomer (Huron Rubber) in Norwalk. Virginia was a great cook, and if you visited her on Sundays, you could expect a fresh baked pie. She loved a party, visiting with family, and around her kitchen table all friends were considered family.

Virginia worked with the Girl Scouts and was a loyal member of the Grange in Fitchville. She attended the Alliance Church in New London. She was saved and baptized into Christ in May of 1980; Virginia truly had the gift of service and helped with many church functions, including funeral luncheons. She enjoyed her Bible studies and Sunday School classes and hated when she had to miss.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two daughters, Margaret Merrill and Bonnie Widman. She is survived by 3 daughters, Betty Camp of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara (Steve) Bowerize of Northwood and Marcia (Kevin) Ledet of Greenwich, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Rossman of Medina and Shirley Yarmock of South Amherst.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Monday with officiant Pastor Toby Thomas. Burial will follow at Fitchville Cemetery.
