William R. “Rick” Hehr, 71, passed away peacefully at St. John’s Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio. He was born on January 23, 1953, in Leominster, Massachusetts to the late William R. and Patricia A. (Nesmith) Hehr. Rick graduated from John Marshall High School in Cleveland and also studied at Tri-C.
Rick served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force. In the service he was a talented radio mechanic and afterwards put those skills to work for many years as a repairman and installer of MRI machines, working for several of the largest companies including Philips and Siemens.
Rick enjoyed hunting, playing guitar, NASCAR, drawing, building birdhouses, shooting, radio-controlled airplanes, and watching home remodeling and cooking shows.
He is survived by his siblings, Patrick “Jim” (Cindy) Hehr, Susan “Sue” (Bill) Hamer, and Lisa Hehr; nieces and nephews, Bryan (Kim) Hamer, Melissa Hehr, Patrick (Jen) Hehr, Jason (Ashley) Wacker, and Julie (Larry) Brown; as well as several great nephews, and a great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Rick’s visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. A funeral Mass will be held the following day, Friday April 12, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Fr. Trask officiating. Burial will follow in Huntington Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
